The position involves working on a variety of transactions for leading technology companies, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising transactions. The VP will be immediately assigned to a variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit. They will work directly with senior bankers and clients on all aspects of deal execution and new business support, and will have an important role in developing and strengthening our client relationships and structuring and executing a full range of transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a wide range of transactions including private financings and M&A transactions
  • Responsible for market and industry research, creating presentation materials, developing client presentations, and drafting memoranda and offering documents for internal and external use
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop analyst and associate level bankers
  • Interface with maintain relationships with clients and senior bankers in transaction management
  • Develop relationships with prospects, buyers, and other industry participants
  • Build industry expertise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with excellent academic performance at a first tier academic institution
  • MBA or JD preferred
  • Five to seven years of post-undergraduate work experience

  • Experience and proficiency in financial modeling, analytical and quantitative skills

Vaquero Capital, a leading technology investment bank in San Francisco, is looking for a high performing Vice President.  The position involves working on a variety of transactions for leading technology companies, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising transactions. The VP will be immediately assigned to a variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit. They will work directly with senior bankers and clients on all aspects of deal execution and new business support, and will have an important role in developing and strengthening our client relationships and structuring and executing a full range of transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a wide range of transactions including private financings and M&A transactions
  • Work closely with Analysts, Associates, and senior bankers on all facets of deal execution and closing processes
  • Manage deal execution and closing processes, working closely with Analysts and senior bankers
  • Prepare financial and business analyses including (but not limited to) financial models, industry research, management presentations, confidential information memorandums, and software company KPIs
  • Prepare materials for and participate in new business development
  • Maintain relationships with clients and senior bankers

Investment Banking Business Development Associate

Vaquero Capital is a leading technology M&A focused sell side investment bank based in San Francisco and is looking for a experienced investment banking business development personnel. The firm has a strong track record in SaaS, data, and disruptive technologies.

The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of experience with an investment bank or private equity firm in a business development sourcing related role. Candidates with relevant business development success and a proven track record will be preferentially considered. Senior level BD candidates will also be considered, with the role, title and salary adjusted commensurate with experience.

The business development associate/senior associate will work on sourcing efforts across the firm, with a particular focus on direct company outreach. The individual is responsible for generating high quality sourcing (company) leads for sell side engagements. The associate/senior associate should be disciplined, persistent, and creative in gaining access and generating meaningful/consistent dialogue with founders/CEOs of middle market SaaS companies.

This individual will be responsible for finding new client opportunities by working with Head of Business Development and the broader Vaquero team. A significant portion of our active deal pipeline is proprietary – this individual will be responsible for sustaining this by championing our direct outbound efforts and continued long-term relationship building with target companies.

A successful business development team member will develop expansive knowledge of a variety of businesses and business models, as well as an intricate understanding of business fundamentals. This individual will also build exceptional relationships with executives from key target prospect companies, and identify opportunities for engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new client generation for a boutique technology investment bank, with a focus on direct company outreach
  • Source, develop, and maintain consistent relationships with technology business owners and executives at target companies
  • Research prospects to determine optimal points of contact, stay abreast of key events influencing banking needs, and formulate a strategic approach to win new relationships
  • Build and execute outreach lists
  • Identify and attend relevant industry conferences
  • Assist senior staff in planning Special Events, and outreach to obtain quality RSVPs
  • Support team by building pitch book presentations and sector outreach materials and contact lists
  • Work closely with Vice President, Directors, and Managing Directors and other members of the team to grow and nurture relationships with target companies and private equity sponsors
  • Maintain marketing presence with current information (website, linked-in, pitchbook).

Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • 2-6 years of experience with an investment bank or private equity in a business development deal sourcing related role
  • Relevant business development success and a proven track record
  • Demonstrated ability to cold call, create a pipeline/funnel, build relationships, and sell in high volume and in more custom, high touch situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CRM and Microsoft Office suite
  • Deep understanding of our key verticals of SaaS, Internet, mobile, and data
  • High levels of accountability, ownership, initiative, ethics, integrity, and judgment
  • Proficiency with software and other tools to support sourcing efforts
  • Bachelor’s degree with excellent academic performance at a first tier academic institution
  • Ability to travel to conferences and sales meetings, as appropriate
  • Ability to work on site in San Francisco Office location (not a remote role)
  • Will require FINRA securities license (Vaquero will sponsor if unlicensed)
