David Grove is passionate about helping founders and PE/VC backed management teams execute on complex transactions. Mr. Grove founded Vaquero Capital in 2011 to serve private Saas, Internet/mobile & data companies throughout their lifecycle and has over 19 years experience advising companies on capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. David has advised on over 45 transactions at Vaquero and over 120 transactions in his career. His clients/ transactions have included Alchemy Systems, DealerFx, Hyphen, Drilling Info, Allegro, Irth Solutions, Kony, Manta Media, HomeAway, Alchemy Systems, Zillow, StreetEasy/ Zillow, Vision/ Granicus, Quorum/ Entero, Dachis/Sprinklr, Brightcove, TechMediaNetwork, Motricity, ReachLocal, DTS, Monotype Imaging, Lexar Media, and DivX. He has worked on transactions with many leading investor partnerships, including Insight Venture Partners, Accel/KKR, Bain Capital, Benchmark Capital, Austin Ventures, TCV, Greycroft, ABS, Oak Investments and Redpoint Venture Partners. David was a Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and has been a senior leader in SaaS, Mobile, Internet & Digital Media groups in the middle market. He began his investment banking career at Cowen & Co. and served as a corporate attorney previously. He holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Mr. Grove loves the slopes on Tahoe, Whistler/ Blackcomb, raising his three daughters, enjoying live music (from Willie Nelson to LCD Soundsystem) and playing golf.
Terry Jiang is a Vice President and leads deal execution. He has closed more than 20 transactions at Vaquero with a focus on growth oriented technology businesses in the vertical SaaS, internet, and data services sectors. Prior to joining Vaquero, he worked as an analyst at Martin Wolf Global M&A Advisors. Terry graduated from the University of California San Diego with a B.S. in Management Science and a minor in Accounting.
Josh Moses leads Vaquero’s Chicago effort, and focuses on vertical SaaS, IoT, industrial/ transportation software and HCIT. Josh joined Vaquero with over 18 years of finance experience, most recently as a Managing Director at First Analysis Securities Corporation, where he was a lead sourcing and execution banker in the technology and health care sectors. Prior to FASC, Josh worked at Lincoln International and William Blair working in a number of sectors, including health care, automotive and consumer. Josh graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in History, and received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Dominic Chan works on financial sponsors coverage and deal sourcing. Prior to joining Vaquero, he worked in the investment management divisions at Goldman Sachs and Barclays Capital, covering private equity fund relationships. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco ArtPoint and is a founding member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra Alumni Leadership Council. Dominic graduated with a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Kristian Kemppainen works on sponsor coverage and deal sourcing. Kristian joined Vaquero from White Oak Global Advisors where he worked in the Originations Group. Prior to White Oak, Kristian worked at Carta and held internships at London Venture Partners and Harvard Management Company. Kristian graduated with a B.S. in International Business from Northeastern University.
Jesse Beamish is an associate, supporting the team through financial modeling and transaction execution. Prior to joining Vaquero, Jesse was an intern at FTI Consulting where he worked in their Corporate Finance department. Jesse was a Division I hockey player at Dartmouth College, where he graduated with a B.A. in Economics.
Garret is an analyst, supporting the team through financial modeling, sector research, and transaction execution. Garret graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Finance). He was a three-year starter for the Huskies soccer team, earned Pac-12 Academic honors two-years running, and was a team-captain. Garret interned at Duff & Phelps during college.
Tom McNamara is an analyst, supporting the team through financial modeling, sector research, and transaction execution. Prior to joining Vaquero, Tom interned with Cisco Systems as a financial analyst and with Ernst & Young in their wealth & asset management assurance practice. Tom graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, receiving both a B.B.A, with honors, and a Master’s in Accounting.
Conner Schmeits is an Analyst supporting the team through financial modeling, transaction execution, and market research. Conner graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama. Prior to joining Vaquero, Conner interned at Technetix in the Netherlands, and Longs Peak Advisory while he was in college.
Marina Vidaurri is a Fall Analyst Intern at Vaquero. She is currently a senior at UC Berkeley, pursuing her BS from the Haas School of Business and Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Technology. Prior to joining Vaquero, Marina interned with SourceScrub in San Francisco and Hennessy Funds in Marin.
Macalaster Schmidt is an Analyst Intern, supporting the team through modeling, sector research, and transaction execution. Prior to joining Vaquero, Macalaster was a Summer Analyst at Cascadia Capital where he assisted the company in Mergers and Acquisitions in the Technology and Consumer spaces. Additionally, Macalaster was a Varsity Football Player at the University of Chicago, where he graduated with a B.A. in Economics.
Danny Allen leads operations and legal at Vaquero. He has a long history of managing and growing professional services businesses. He was COO & General Counsel at Carousel30, a digital marketing company, and EVP & General Counsel at Sensis, a national marketing and advertising agency. He began his career at major law firms including Preston, Gates & Ellis, Perkins Coie, Brobeck, and Dewey Ballantine. Danny graduated with a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, a J.D. from New York University School of Law, and a M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Joilene Grove provides legal, compliance and operational support. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto and as Vice President of Legal at Seven Post, a registered investment advisory firm. She started her legal career at Winstead in Houston and also spent several years at the California Bar Foundation. Joilene graduated from New York University School of Law and the University of Texas at Austin cum laude with a degree in English Honors.
Yolanda Yee has over 11 years of experience in office management and executive administration, including from Merriman Curhan Ford and most recently Global Leveraged Capital. Yolanda is a San Francisco native with a Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University.
