Vaquero Capital Hires Seasoned Managing Director Jarl Berntzen, and Analyst Garrett Jackson

June 22, 2018 – SAN FRANCISCO, CA.

Vaquero Capital, a leading boutique middle market advisory firm, recently hired Jarl Berntzen as a senior member of the team. Jarl brings depth and breadth to the firm as he has more than 25 years of investment banking, investment, and corporate development experience. He spent over ten years in the mergers & acquisitions department of Goldman, Sachs & Co. He developed and led the M&A group at ThinkEquity Partners LLC, a national full service investment bank, where he advised a broad range of fast growing technology companies. Jarl has extensive corporate development experience having led the acquisition efforts at Rambus Inc. and Dolby Laboratories Inc., and evaluated hundreds of public and private technology targets in the process. He also has held positions on the buy-side as a principal investor and portfolio manager. Since 2006, Jarl has served as a director on the board of NASDAQ listed Century Aluminum Company where he has chaired numerous committees. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration and an M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration (Finance), both from Copenhagen Business School, and attended an international student exchange program with Stanford University Graduate School of Business. On the personal side, Jarl is an avid outdoor athlete and European soccer fan.

“Adding Jarl to the team brings depth and unparalleled investment banking experience to the Vaquero team,” says David Grove, Managing Partner of Vaquero. “Jarl has hit the ground running, and has a keen eye for project management, and a strong technical understanding of both deal processes and company-side financials and corporate development needs that are a real value-add for our clients. Jarl’s experience is an asset for the entire team.”

In July, Vaquero will also welcome recent University of Washington grad Garrett Jackson as an analyst. Garrett graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Finance), and was a four-year starter for the Huskies Soccer Team, scoring every season as a defender, and a Pac-12 Academic honors team member two years running. Garrett gained valuation experience as an intern with Duff & Phelps the summer before his senior year. “We are excited to have Garrett join the team – Garrett has proven himself to be disciplined and well-rounded, important skills for investment banking, and we look forward to adding him to the Vaquero roster.”
